One of the most hidden and unassuming cafes in Perth CBD is the Country Road Café. I stumbled across it when shopping in the city one day. I’ve visited a couple of times, as I enjoy the quiet courtyard, just a stone’s throw from the hustle and bustle of Murray Street. They serve piping hot coffees and fresh breakfasts and lunch, made from quality produce.
On this occasion I stopped here for a coffee and lunch. Admittedly, we’d first tried Venn and Halcyon – but it was the beginning of January and it would appear that a lot of venues were shut for the festive season. Remembering CRC, we soon found a quiet spot for a chat. I was there with my lovely second mummy Mrs B and my proxy siblings – my childhood neighbours and dear friends.
I had a ham, avocado and cheese Turkish bread toastie. The ham was thickly cut and delicious. The humble side salad is often overlooked and underdone. The salad on-the-side at CRC was a colourful surprise and a lovely touch. The coffee was really hot too, something I value, but it’s hard to find!
You can access Country Road Cafe from the County Road Shop on Murray Street, or through the entrance from Wolf Lane (next to the Cheeky Sparrow).
